Title: Joint PathoMechanics in Understanding OA Disease and Guiding Treatment

Session Description:

Mechanical loading and joint function have long been recognized as important contributors to (the progression of) osteoarthritis. However, biomarkers of joint pathomechanics as a risk factor must be considered alongside the biological, structural, behavioural, and symptomatic features that shape the disease and its impact on the individual. It is in this context that the search for meaningful biomarkers should take place.

Professor Jaap Harlaar will present such a perspective on biomarkers of joint-level pathomechanics and discuss how they can contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of osteoarthritis. Participants will learn how mechanical information from joint mechanics can be measured in the individual and can be interpreted to identify a clinically relevant phenotype of joint pathomechanics, to eventually inform more personalized approaches to prevention and treatment.

Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of the opportunities and limitations associated with mechanical biomarkers., The webinar will encourage discussion across disciplines and highlight the importance of connecting mechanical measurements to clinically meaningful outcomes.
